Arts and Culture
So you think you can dance? Texas does too! The state celebrates its music, arts, and dance year round with live performances, concerts, exhibits, and festivals that are sure to soothe your soul.
Cue The Music, Maestro. Ready? Dance!
Two left feet? Relax instead and listen to the accordion wheeze of biergarten music around the gazebo, Mozart beneath the stars, or Mariachis on the courthouse lawn. Communities across the state sponsor musical performances, many of them outdoors, to suit all tastes from baroque to big band, and much of it is free! Looking for inspiration? Local artists and craftspeople exhibit routinely all over the state, offering insight, imagination, and made-in-Texas canvases, sculptures, photographs, and wares, making art some of the state's most valued home grown handiwork. Feeling creative? "All art requires courage," says Houston Museum of Fine Art photography curator Anne Wilkes Tucker. So don't be shy, participate or spectate but be seen on the Texas art scene.
