Austin’s historic Driskill Hotel was completed in 1886. Upon its opening, it was proclaimed by the Austin Daily Statesman newspaper to be “one of the finest hotels in the whole country”. The hotel was built by Colonel Jesse Driskill, who made (and lost) his fortune in the cattle industry.

The hotel has hosted dignitaries at opulent balls over its many years, and continues to be a sought after venue in Austin today. Governors, Presidents, emperors, and celebrities have all graced the halls. The hotel is now owned by Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and features a bar, bakery, restaurant, a ballroom, and several other event venues in addition to the guest rooms.

The Driskill Hotel was designated as a Texas Treasure Business in 2023.
