In August 1975, Roger and Jeanine Grizzard came to Weatherford and opened The Pizza Place on South Main near Weatherford High School. Roger and Jeanine not only served pizza, but served their community as teachers at Weatherford High School and members of many community organizations and boards.
The Pizza Place prides itself on preparing everything on-site including the crust, sauces, and hamburger meat and sausage toppings.
The Pizza Place has always been a hangout for students and families with children. Roger used to hand out quarters for the game machine well before games were on the customers' phones. Today, this 1970s wooden building still has "autographed" tables, chairs, and photos of local school sports teams.
After the passing of Roger in 2019, Jeanine has continued to operate the business in the same location with devoted customers.
The Pizza Place was designated a Texas Treasure Business in 2026.
