The Original Ninfa's
In 1949, Ninfa and Domenic Laurenzo opened Rio Grande Tortilla next to their home in Houston's East End. They soon opened Ninfa's Mexican Restaurant (later shortened to Ninfa's Restaurant) in a small building in front of the tortillería. In 2006, the business rebranded to The Original Ninfa's.
The Original Ninfa's is famously known for introducing tacos al carbon and the Tex-Mex dish of fajitas to public knowledge. A James Beard Award semifinalist in 2019, the restaurant combines comfort and tradition with a sense of culinary adventure at their two Houston locations at Ninfa's on Navigation and Ninfa's Uptown.
The Original Ninfa's was designated a Texas Treasure Business in 2023.
