Celebrate one of Texas’ favorite traditions at the annual Kolache Festival, held every second Saturday in September on the historic square in downtown Caldwell. Admission is free, making this family-friendly event the perfect way to experience the area’s rich Czech heritage, lively entertainment, and, of course, delicious homemadenfo kolaches.

The festivities begin at 9:00 a.m. with Opening Ceremonies under the Polka Pavilion on Fox Street, featuring the crowning of Mr. & Mrs. Kolache and performances by the SPJST Youth Beseda Dancers. Live polka music keeps the celebration going throughout the day, including a performance by the popular Shiner Hobo Band beginning at 10:30 a.m., along with performances by the Czech & Slovak Dancers of CHS.

Festival favorites include the Kolache Eating Contest, Kolache Baking Championship, 5K Kolache Krunch Run, quality arts and crafts vendors, food booths, an impressive quilt show, local museums, a street rod and classic car show, antique machinery and tractor exhibits, and a children’s activity zone. With entertainment and attractions throughout the day, there’s something for visitors of all ages.

Planning to take home fresh kolaches? Arrive early—they’re a festival favorite and often sell out by 1:00 p.m.

For vendor information, contact the Burleson County Chamber of Commerce at 979-567-0000.
