MIDLAND, Texas — The Bush Family Home State Historic Site invites families to celebrate Texas Archaeology Month with Archaeology Day from 10am to 3pm at 1412 W. Ohio Avenue. The Bush Family Home will be holding a matching game with candies that came out in different decades.

“Kids will learn basic archaeology skills in a fun and sweet way,” said Site Educator Erin Frigo.

In archaeological digs, different time periods are revealed in the soil through something called stratigraphy, or levels of strata. Each level of strata appears different in color and composition, representing different climates and other factors through time. For this program, the folks at the Bush Family Home will be matching the strata (or the decade) with each candy. The public will have the chance to try the candies, while also learning about this key archaeological concept.
