GLIDE ON: The Silent Wings Museum, situated in the Lubbock airport's converted former passenger terminal with panoramic views of active aircraft, tells the story of the U.S. Combat Glider Program and the significant role it played in World War II. Most American glider pilots received their wings at South Plains Army Air Field, now the Lubbock airport site. The museum includes a WACO CG-4A glider, one of the few remaining fully restored gliders from World War II along with several exhibit galleries, a theater, a restored C-47 airplane and a research library.
