This property's claim to fame is that it was built by and briefly the residence of former Texas Gov. Francis R. Lubbock, who was governor of Texas during the Civil War. Later, the property was home to prominent shipping agent, J. Henry Langbehn, whose business with his brothers enabled international steamship travel between Galveston and Europe.
