Wimberley Institute of Cultures to Host Annual Pie Social April 18

WIMBERLEY, Texas — The Wimberley Institute of Cultures will host its Annual Pie Social from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 18 on the grounds of the Wimberley Valley Museum at 14068 Ranch Road 12.

This year’s event will be held in partnership with the EmilyAnn Theatre Butterfly Festival. They will be releasing butterflies at their Theatre grounds and have a few of our pies, and we will feature a special butterfly release at 12:30 p.m. at the Pie Social. Attendance is free with plenty of free parking available. All funds raised from pie and hot dog sales goes directly to the support of the Wimberley Valley Museum!

The family-friendly event will include live animal visits from Mini Equine 2 U and Freedom Canines, Int’l, along with children’s games, a cornhole tournament, hot dogs and plenty of homemade pies. The highlight of the day is the annual pie competition. Winners in five categories; cream, fruit, nut, savory (new this year) and children’s (baked by participants age 12 and under), will be announced at 1 p.m. Immediately following, will be a live auction of the winning pies!

Additionally, this year guests can also participate in a Silent Auction featuring the Museum’s most popular Heritage Pies baked by former winners. The silent auction will end at 2 p.m. so you can take your pie with you! Also, a raffle will offer additional items and experiences throughout the afternoon.

The Pie Social is one of the Institute’s annual fundraisers going back to 1990. All proceeds go to supporting the maintenance and preservation of the Wimberley Valley Museum. Organizers say the event offers a chance for the community to gather and enjoy a tradition that harkens back to a simpler time. “This is a wonderful way for families and friends to spend the day together while supporting the Museum,” organizers said. “We invite everyone to come out, enjoy butterflies and a slice of pie. Come celebrate with us!”
