San Augustine Main Street Heritage Days
May 1, 2026
Friday and Saturday, May 1st and 2nd, 2026 will be the eleventh annual celebration of the Main Street Heritage Days in San Augustine. Vendors and sidewalk sales will line the streets around the square on Friday. The festivities kick off Friday evening at 6 p.m. with a very special show: God Bless America: a WWII Radio Hour. This performance will be free to the public, and held in the Augus Theater at 6 p.m.
Saturday, May 2 the town will be bustling with activities for all ages. A pancake breakfast will be presented by the San Augustine County Athletic Association, with pancakes, sausage, bacon and juice.
At Santa Fe Park behind the Cotton Gin will be the Wildlife Challenge for age groups 9-12 and 13-16. Come by any time between 9 a.m. and 12 noon to take the challenge of identifying animals and plants and learning about hunter safety. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Contact Jeff Cox with any questions at 936-201-0761.
Up on the square more activities for the kids include barrel train rides, an historic scavenger hunt, face painting, historical reenactments, the Reptile Club, and a patriotic art show featuring students from San Augustine Independent School District and Broaddus Independent School District. Other activities include a car show, ongoing live entertainment stage, 1919 jail museum tours, tours of the art and artifacts in the Stripling Building, a 10:30 a.m. bus tour of historic homes and churches, and so many more happenings. Our Main Street will be busy with food vendors and arts and craft vendors for your shopping and eating pleasure throughout the entire day. Bring a lawn chair and plan to spend the day being entertained while exploring and visiting with your friends. Thanks to the many sponsors, volunteers, Main Street Board, and our community in making this such a well attended and fun event since 2015. We are very proud of our San Augustine heritage as we all embrace it. For further information or to secure your booth spot, contact Shelby Curtis, Main Street Manager, at 936-275-5581.
