Unlike any other Texas cultural festival, this historic, family-oriented event is a celebration of Scottish ancestry shared by people around the world. And is the only event in Texas that focuses solely on the Scots…three days filled with the sights and sounds of Scotland.

What began here in 1961 continues today with thousands of participants and attendees turning Salado into the epicenter of the largest gathering in Texas of Scottish Clans, bagpipers, drummers, athletes, dancers, singers and musicians.

When you join in the celebration and are enjoying the pipes and drums, tossing of the caber, graceful Highland dancing, and the sweet sound of the Scottish fiddle, you are also supporting your local museum as all proceeds from the event benefit the Salado Museum and College Park.

So much to see and experience! On Friday evening a solemn torchlight ceremony on the banks of Salado Creek recreates the coming together of ancient Scottish clans in 1314 to fight for Scotland’s freedom.

On Saturday, watch competitions in Scottish athletics, bagpiping, drumming, and Highland Dance; enjoy the distinctive melodies and songs of their homeland performed by Scottish-born musicians; and join in the laughter during the popular Bonniest Knees Contest.

On Sunday, the Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan, pipe band, Scottish dance, and musical performances, and a Dog Costume Contest round out the weekend. An experience like no other and men in kilts everywhere!
