Join us for “France and the Making of New Nations in North America: The United States, Mexico, and Texas (1776–1836)” Drawing upon French and North American sources, this lecture offers a transatlantic perspective on revolution, diplomacy, migration, and nation-building, showing how France helped shape - and was in turn transformed by - the birth of new nations across the continent.

Presentation will be lead by Edgar Brossollet a PhD candidate in history at the Sorbonne University. He is also a graduate of Sciences Po Paris. His research focuses on nineteenth-century Franco-American relations, particularly the life and legacy of Henry Castrol (1786-1865).

This event is held in partnership with Alliance Française d'Austin. Their mission to share French language and culture in our community is wide ranging for lectures like this and other classes.
