Young County was organized in 1856 with Belknap designated as the county seat. After retreat of frontier troops during Civil War, county records were moved to Jacksboro 1865 during renewed Indian trouble. Young County reorganized in 1874 with Graham as the county seat.
The current Young County Courthouse was completed in 1932 and is the third courthouse of Young County.
