The museum is directly west of the current courthouse, housed in the historic, 1927 two-story courthouse designed by the Butler Company, Architects. The museum houses artifacts from Plains and Yoakum County showcasing their rich ranching, agricultural, oil and business heritage. The old jail is also located inside of the museum. Additionally the museum serves as a community center and is available for rental purposes.
