Wayne's Shoe Repair & Boot Store was founded at 409 W. Main Street by Wayne Couch as early as 1928, when he began working in the shoe shop with his brother, William Ernest Couch, making and repairing shoes.
Mike Tatar, a shoe repairman and deputy sheriff, purchased the business in 1970. After his death in 2004, George Karam purchased the business. George had previously worked for Risk Shoes in Sherman.
Karam continues to operate Wayne's today and carries forward the fine workmanship for which Wayne Couch was known.
