Located in the old library built in 1940 by the WPA, the Vanishing Texana Museum is a highlight of any visit to East Texas. Visitors often call it a “museum of precious memories” referring to its extensive compilation of items representing the community’s past history from the late 1800’s through the 1970’s. Additionally, the museum hosts items on loan from private, local collectors. These collections are often of very rare items that visitors have never seen before. The museum docents invite all visitors to enjoy a short tour of the facility, which includes the “back story” of some of the more unusual items.
