One of the Coastal Bend’s major visitor destinations and leading nature tourism facilities, the 182-acre South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center showcases lots more than flowers! One of Corpus Christi’s five major cultural / educational attractions, it highlights a Butterfly House, Orchid and Bromeliad Conservatories, majestic Rose
Garden and seasonal Plumeria Garden. Visitors also love Sensory Garden ‘artscape’ and diversity of quaint Hummingbird, desert Arid, and Tropical Gardens. But the Reptile Room, Iguanas, Sulcata Tortoises—and vibrant exotic parrots introduce learning elements and entertainment “encounters” not at typical gardens!
Entering the “nature center” segment of vast native habitat and natural wetlands, explore secluded Brennecke Nature Trail with birding tower and bronze wildlife sculpture by world-renowned artist Kent Ullberg. From the rustic Palapa Grande, enjoy serene views of Gator Lake, and take the Wetland Awareness Boardwalk through scenic natural wetlands--often with views of Roseate Spoonbills and White Pelicans--with wildlife blinds along mesquite-lined Oso Creek Loop Trail.
Enjoy 70 unbelievably creative bird houses designed for April’s annual
BIRDIEST FESTIVAL in AMERICA
. Let kids explore the “Tree House;” then shop Nature’s Boutique in the Visitors Center, enjoying a snack or drink.
Other annual events include BIG BLOOM mega Plant Sale, Moonlight in the Gardens fundraiser, and four weekends of Holly Days with Santa, lights and holiday magic.Ideal for tourists, birders, field trips, garden enthusiasts, artists, family outings, and a popular wedding and party rental venue.
