Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse
The legacy of Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse dates back to 1910 when Elias Bryan opened his restaurant. His son “Red” soon followed suit by opening a restaurant of his own. In 1958 Sonny Bryan, manager of Red’s, entered the Dallas barbecue scene by opening a smokehouse on the “wet” side of Dallas.
Owned by the Harman family since 1989, Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse continues to be a favorite in the Dallas area. Over the years, Sonny Bryan’s has become a frequent haunt for celebrities and other notable figures as evidenced by the photos decorating the walls.
As Sonny himself says, “The only smart thing I ever did was find something I could do well, and decide to be happy doing it.”
Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse was designated a Texas Treasure Business in 2022.
