Nadler's Bakery and Delicatessen was opened in 1963 by owners Hans, a European-trained pastry chef, and Minerva Nadler. Mr. Nadler, a native of Switzerland, arrived in the USA in October of 1953, settled on Long Island, New York and was drafted into the US Army 6 months later and deployed to Fort Sam Houston Texas. He met Minerva while stationed there and both left to live in Long Island. In 1961, Mr. Nadler decided that it would be best to return to San Antonio for a slower paced life, where they eventually opened the bakery. In addition to a bakery, the business offers a breakfast and lunch menu in their deli.
