The opulent Jefferson Theatre’s Mediterranean-influenced interior features a white marble staircase and an organ that rises from the orchestra pit on a hydraulic lift. Opened in 1927, this grand theatre hosted traveling shows, vaudevillians, drama, and motion pictures until it closed its doors in 1972. Restoration began in 1995 and the Jefferson re-opened in 2003. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Today, the Jefferson Theatre part of Beaumont's civic center complex and is home to a live concert series.
