The Hotel San Jose was a thriving motor court during the 1930s. In the 1950s it evolved into a roadside motel, but as South Austin neighborhood changed, it fell into disrepair.
In 1994 Liz Lambert purchased the property with an eye toward renovating it one room at a time. Her dream took longer than she hoped, but Lambert finally transformed it into the mid-century modern gem it is today. Located in “SoCo”, one of Austin’s hottest neighborhoods, the Hotel San Jose has reestablished itself as the place to be in Austin.
