Chase Holland purchased Mr. C.C. McBurnett's jewelry business at 113 S. Chadbourne in San Angelo in 1918. In 1936, the first spur tie clip was produced to show tribute to someone who has "won their spurs" and was patented in 1937. Numerous handmade western jewelry and buckles were introduced by Holland's manufacturing department.
In 1940, Holland moved the business to 11 W. Beauregard, in downtown San Angelo and operated from that location for 60 years. In 1946, Holland's son, Chase Holland Jr., returned from the war and joined his father in the business.
In 1960, Chase Sr. died and the business was passed to his son. In 1968, Chase Holland, Jr. succumbed to cancer at the age of 48, and his wife, Virginia, assumed control of the business with the assistance of Mr. George McCormack, who had served as store manager.
Chase Holland, III, joined the family business after graduating from Texas A&M in 1971, and his brother, Bill, returned to San Angelo five years later after working for the U.S. Treasury Department. The business moved into a free standing building at 501 W. Beauregard in 1999, and remains in the downtown business district to this day.
After the death of their mother, Virginia, in 2012, ownership passed to brothers Chase and Bill, and Vice President and shareholder, Brant Horner.
