A magnificent structure completed in 1915, the Library was designed as an adaptation of the Foundling Hospital for Children in Florence, Italy, which was executed in 1419 by the Italian architect, sculptor and painter Brunelleschi. A Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, it was listed with the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
