The George Ranch Historical Park is an internationally recognized living history museum on a 20,000-acre working ranch. Here, visitors can trace the story of four generations of one remarkable family – from the frontier days through World War II.

Henry Jones and his wife Nancy received the original deed to the land in 1824 from empresario Stephen F. Austin – making them one of Austin’s “Old 300” colonists. The property was then passed down to the subsequent generations through the women in the family.

The ranch’s remarkable history and interpretation touches on themes including immigration to Mexican Tejas, the Texas Revolution, the Republic era, cattle ranching, agriculture and land use, and the growth of oil and gas industry in Texas oil. The Ranch exists in its present state today largely thanks to the family’s generosity and vision.
