Cora's 471 Grill, previously known as Cora's Place, originally opened in 1932 out of the rock home of Henry and Cora Burell in what was then known as Burell, Texas. The local schoolhouse, which was established in 1906, was closed by the 1930s. Cora purchased the building and moved it about one mile south of town for use as a restaurant adjacent to their homeplace in 1937.

Cora's Place was popular with the soldiers who were stationed at the Hondo Army Air Field Training Base in Hondo during World War II. Cora's was inherited by Henry and Cora's daughter, Geri Masters Wolfe, who continued to operate the restaurant, bar and dance hall.

In 1998, Shelly and Chuck Hurd purchased Cora's from Geri and changed the name to Cora's 471 Grill, signifying its location on Farm Road 471. Today, Cora's 471 Grill continues to utilize both the old rock house and Burell school structure, and is one of the most popular eating establishments in the Castroville area.

Cora's 471 Grill was designated a Texas Treasure Business in 2013.
