Get to Know New Braunfels

Although Germany was not one of the six flags that flew over Texas, its influence can certainly be felt in places settled by German immigrants in the first half of the 19th century. Despite the passage of 175 years, you can still sense the Germanic roots in towns such as Fredericksburg, Boerne, and especially New Braunfels. In addition to the names of streets, hotels, and bakeries, the physical layout of New Braunfels provides evidence of its Germanic roots. Those roots are kept very much alive by the community’s celebration of German culture—Texas style!
