USA 250th Origins of the American Revolution
January 29, 2026
Fort Concho, in partnership with the Dr. Arnoldo De Leon History Department at Angelo State University, will host the first of monthly talks as part of a public program series on the American Revolution to highlight our nation’s 250th Anniversary.
Dr. Kenna Archer will present “Writing an Origin Story, The American Revolution and the ‘Cause of all Mankind,’” on Thursday, January 29, at 600 pm in the Fort’s Commissary Building, Flipper Street near Burgess Street.
An Associate Professor at Angelo State, her presentation will explore the causes of the American Revolution, which originated as a New England dispute over taxation and evolved into a contest over democracy and individual rights. Indeed, the signing of the Declaration of Independence was a monumental event with global implications, but as late as January 1776, many people living in the British colonies remained uncertain about the question of independence. Join Dr. Kenna Archer as she explores the origins of the American Revolution and discusses the incidents and developments that persuaded many colonists to support a war for independence.
The program is free to all, and there will be light refreshments.
