Texas Film Round Up - Brenham
January 17, 2025 to January 18, 2025
Friday, January 17 from 6-8pm and Saturday, January 18 from 10am-3pm.
Do you have films or videotapes at your home or business? Were they filmed in Texas or made by a Texan? Have you ever thought about digitizing them?
The Texas Historical Commission and Visit Brenham are teaming up with the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) for the 2025 Texas Film Round-Up program, and we'll be in Brenham to help you digitize all your old home movies!
Individuals, businesses, and institutions can drop off their Texas-related films and videotapes at the Barnhill Center on Jan. 17-18, 2025 for FREE digitization in exchange for contributing a digital copy of their materials to TAMI. Professional archivists from TAMI will be set up in person to consult. Films and videotapes submitted to the Round-Up will be digitized at TAMI’s Austin office and returned by mail to the owners, along with a digital copy. To qualify for free digitization, the films and videotapes must be Texas-related, and participants must be willing to donate a digital copy of their materials to the program.
In addition to the in-person film collection, the Barnhill Center will be hosting a special Friday evening screening of Starring Brenham on January 17 at 7pm.
This event is part of the programming taking place during the run of the Smithsonian's traveling exhibit, “Crossroads: Change in Rural America,” presented in partnership with the Texas Historical Commission. The national exhibit will be on view in the Barnhill Center at the Historic Simon Theatre through January 19, 2025. Drop off your videos and stay to see the exhibit!
