When the Plaza Theatre opened on 1930, it was heralded as the "Southwest's most perfect theater" and the largest atmospheric showplace between Dallas and Los Angeles.
-Focus on the Plaza's design, beauty, and function and why it became, and remains, one of the most beloved spaces.
-Listen the original 1930 Wyler Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, featuring Rick Garven, a long-time volunteer Plaza organist.
-Discuss the premiers of movies based on Tom Lea novels, The Wonderful Country and The Brave Bulls.
Itinerary:
-Meet at the Plaza Theatre ( 125 W Mills Ave, El Paso, TX 79901)
- Walk about a square mile in the neighborhood; not advised for those with limited mobility.
- After the tour, attendees may join the group for a no-host lunch at local restaurant Park Tavern.
