Matriarchs of Salado – Exhibit Opening at Salado Museum and College Park Honoring the Women Who Helped Shape Salado’s Story.
Join us for the opening of Matriarchs of Salado, a new exhibit at the Salado Museum and College Park, celebrating the legacies of influential women who played a pivotal role in the village’s rich history.
This special reception will feature a meet and greet with Christy Carpenter, daughter of the legendary Liz Carpenter and co-producer/director of the documentary Shaking It Up: The Life & Times of Liz Carpenter.
The Matriarchs of Salado exhibit highlights the stories of five remarkable women whose leadership and influence helped shape the identity of Salado:
Liz Carpenter – trailblazing journalist, political advisor, feminist, and Salado native; Grace Jones – beloved community leader and preservation advocate; Lucile A. Robertson; Mary Hodge; Nannie Poteet
“We are honored to present the stories of these powerful women, and thrilled to welcome their descendants—including Ms. Carpenter—to help us celebrate their impact,” says Lynette Jones, Executive Director of the Salado Museum.
