Saturday, February 1

The public is invited to attend a special screening of films and videos featuring archival footage of the area “Starring Rockport” which will take place at the site of the MoMS traveling exhibition “Crossroads: Change in Rural America.” Highlights include an interview with George Strait, archival footage of Goose Island State Park, whooping cranes, Hurricane Celia, and a 1920s home movie of a parade in Corpus Christi.
Films and videotapes will also be accepted for the Texas Film Round-Up, TAMI's FREE digitization program with the Texas Film Commission. The Round-Up will be held at the same location from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Materials will be digitized at TAMI’s Austin office and returned by mail to the owners, along with a digital copy. To qualify for free digitization, the films and videotapes must be Texas-related, and participants must be willing to donate a digital copy of their materials to the program. A selection of materials from the Round-up will be incorporated into TexasArchive.org, a crowd-sourced library of Texas-related moving images.
