Texas State University-San Marcos houses The Wittliff Collections, founded by Texas screenwriter and photographer Bill Wittliff and his wife, Sally. The collection maintains the Southwestern Writers Collection (papers and memorabilia) and photos from the Southwestern & Mexican Photography Collection. The collection includes the entire production record of the CBS miniseries “Lonesome Dove,” for which Wittliff was screenwriter.
