Nocona was built up both as a result of the droving teams that passed through on the nearby Chisholm Trail and the expansion of the railroad. It’s probably most famous for being the decades-long headquarters of Nocona Boot Company, which was founded by Enid Justin after her brothers moved Justin Boot Company to Fort Worth in 1925. Their father, H.J. Justin, first started his business repairing boots of trail hands on cattle drives at nearby Spanish Fort.
The Tails ‘n Trails Museum contains numerous collections pertaining to American Indian culture, Western heritage, agriculture, leather goods, and the oil and gas industry.
