Created in 1893, the Fort Worth Stockyards was one of the largest livestock markets in the United States. So much money changed hands here that it was nicknamed “Wall Street of the West”.

Activity increased at the outbreak of the Great War, when horses and mules were needed in great supply by European armies. Foreign agents were sent in droves to buy livestock. During the war, Fort Worth was the largest horse and mule market in the world.

Now a National Historic District, it remains one of the most popular attractions in Texas. The Stockyards Museum showcases the rich history of the yards with an exciting collection of artifacts, photos and exhibits.
