San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum
San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum (commonly called SAAACAM) is a community-driven museum and archive dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history and cultural heritage of African Americans in San Antonio and the Southwest.
Visitors can explore engaging digitized and audiovisual exhibits that bring to life the stories of local Black communities and individuals whose contributions are often missing from mainstream narratives. Exhibits and programs highlight topics such as resilience, community leadership, and historical experiences that span from early settlement through the civil rights era to today.
SAAACAM also offers special experiences and events for heritage travelers, including The Green Book Civil Rights Bus Tour through historic neighborhoods (connecting sites of Black entrepreneurship and resistance) and themed community programs and art markets.
Located in La Villita Historic Arts Village, the museum is easily paired with a River Walk visit and other cultural stops in downtown San Antonio.
