Plaza Theater
The Plaza Theatre, home to Paris Community Theatre, has graced the northeast corner of Paris, Texas, for nearly a century. Its grand opening on July 30, 1926, introduced a modern venue inspired by Spanish-Moorish architecture, featuring rounded arches, a tiled roof, wrought iron railings, and an elaborate grill that concealed the organ pipes of the orchestra pit. Staggered, air-cushioned seating, as well as a new "Blizzard Cooling System” were new luxuries to theater-going audiences at the time. Opening night included a musical stage show and the sophisticated photoplay, The Grand Duchess and the Waiter. With its iconic flashing sign, the Plaza has remained a cherished cultural landmark, now welcoming visitors to live theatre performances.
