Listen to the story of Kiowa leader Maman-ti, the “Owl Prophet,” and his role throughout the conflict.

The Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, on the campus of West Texas A&M University, offers a wealth of exhibits on the lives of the Southern Plains tribes as well as interactive displays about frontier life. The museum also owns two battle sites of the Red River War – the Second Battle of Adobe Walls site and the Buffalo Wallow fight site. Though remote, it is possible to visit the Adobe Walls site. Several monuments front this historic landscape, and a map is downloadable from the museum web site.
