The Georgetown Palace Theatre’s was first opened in 1925 as a small movie house called the Melody where it featured silent films. It wasn't until three years after opening that the theatre began to host talkies.
The original brick building was remodeled in 1936 in the Art Deco style. After the Great Depression, the theater became a lively gathering spot for community members. In 1974, the building was purchased and renovated, eventually reopening in 2001 as the Georgetown Palace Theatre. Since then, it has showcased a dynamic lineup of musicals, plays, and films, establishing itself as a beloved cultural centerpiece in the city.
