Built by J. Kirby Buckner in 1940, the Palace Theatre is home to the Grapevine Opry, Texas' premier music variety show. Next door to the Palace Theatre is historic Buckner Cash Grocery Building (ca. 1930) which has been transformed as an additional performance and meeting facility accommodating up to 180 for a noon luncheon program and 200 for an in-the-round theatrical performance in the evening. These two entertainment centers are now called Palace Theatre Arts Center and preserve much of the entertainment history of downtown Grapevine.
The Grapevine Opry has established a tradition of excellence seldom equaled for this type show in the country music industry. With one of the most acclaimed house bands in the Southwest, the high energy, spontaneous format of every show perfectly compliments the truly great music for which the venue is known.
