This red-roofed, castle-like landmark dominating the skyline was Texas State’s first building — and until 1908, the only campus structure. Old Main was built in a style known as Victorian Gothic.
An iconic landmark, the City created building guidelines that protect view corridors of Old Main from areas of downtown and the square. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
