Old City Hall and Fire Station

This 1915 building, San Marcos’s original City Hall/Fire Station, was bought and restored as a studio in 1984, and later sold in 1992 to Texas State University. It was repurposed for the university’s sound recording technology program, the first of its kind in the southwest.

Among the musicians who have recorded at Fire Station Studios are the Texas Tornados and blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
