New Braunfels Railroad Museum
When New Braunfels received its railroad in the 1880s, its businesses immediately enjoyed an economic boost. The town also saw an increase in tourist traffic.
Today, the 1907 International-Great Northern Railroad passenger depot provides a sense of what traveling by rail was like in the early part of the 20th century. The long building ran parallel to the railroad tracks, and the overhanging roof protected passengers and goods from both the sun and rain.
The New Braunfels Railroad Museum, located inside the restored depot, houses exhibits in segregation-era waiting rooms. Outside is a restored 1950s Missouri Pacific caboose and a baggage room filled with working model train layouts.
