Music City Texas Theater
A PLACE TO SING
Linden has a passion for the performing arts and decided in 2003 to create a place to share the gift of music by providing an artful venue for community events and quality entertainment from all genres of music. All that remained to fulfill this mission was a theater. But instead of building from scratch, the organization known as Music City Texas transformed Linden’s American Legion Auditorium, built between 1948 and 1950, into a state-of-the-art performance space. Today, Music City Texas Theater hosts a year-round schedule of musical performances and theatrical productions, with a side of frito pie from the concession stand. Past performers include Don Henley, Jackson Browne, Rodney Crowell, Stoney LaRue, and Hal Ketchum. Tickets can go fast in this 400 seat theater, so purchasing tickets in advance are recommended. The Theater also sponsors the Play It Forward Project, a program designed to put musical instruments in the hands of middle and high school students in order to encourage them to pursue their interests in music.
