Museum of the American G.I.
The tank was one of the greatest military and technological advances of the war.
It was basically a moving fort! The French were the first to invent a truly effective armored tank - the Renault FT-17. Even modern day tanks mimic much of its design.
After seeing them in action at Cambrai, General Pershing and the US Army used the FT-17 to great effect. This tank – and others like it – helped the Allies win the war.
The Museum of the American G.I. houses an incredible collection of restored military vehicles from WWI and other wars. The museum is now renovating a complete Renault FT-17 tank and will soon have it viewable to the public.
