The Moody-Bradley House was built in 1860 by Colonel W. L. Moody, civic and business leader, for his wife, Elizabeth Bradley Moody. Their son, W. L. Moody, Jr., was born in the historic home in 1865 prior to the sale of the home to Moody’s father-in-law, F.M. Bradley, for a price of $2,800 in gold and the family’s move to Galveston. The “Mary Moody Northen Library” in Fairfield is named in honor of his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Moody Northen. The home is one of the best examples of Greek Revival style architecture and currently serves as a museum, a rental venue, and site for cultural and community activities.
