Designed by architect George Burnett, the 1913 Montague County Courthouse is the anchor of the small community of Montague.
The original design of the courthouse was substantially altered over the years, particularity on the interior, where most historic finishes were covered.
While still awaiting funds for a complete restoration, the county received funds to address structural problems with the entry stairs. The project supplemented the foundation of the stairs and porches to support the load of the porch columns. The brick chimney flue on the south side was structurally reinforced to eliminate the risk of future failure.
Work was completed September 2003.
