Mission Tejas State Park served as the site of a Spanish mission from 1690 until 1730, during which time Spanish colonists and missionaries attempted to convert Nabedache Indians to Christianity. The park’s deeply wooded grounds and preindustrial silence provide visitors an opportunity to reflect on the Spanish colonial experience in East Texas.
