Millard's Crossing Historic Village
At Millard’s Crossing Historic Village is a cluster of 15 relocated 19th-century buildings including a schoolhouse, church, and boardinghouse. Walking through the village, visitors can conjure up images of a bygone era.The Village has become a treasure for East Texas as an important tourist attraction with award winning tours, an outstanding resource for historic education with hands-on activities for children and as the site for numerous events and weddings.
Established by the late Lera Millard Thomas, the Village comprises a broad sampling of the 19th century East Texas architecture from simple log cabins to Victorian homes. All of the structures were moved from their original sites, restored and are furnished with Mrs. Thomas's widely eclectic collection of antiques.
Every fourth Friday (except July & December), there is free live music performed either in the chapel or on the grounds in summer. Talented amateur and professional groups from all over East Texas come to the Village to perform beginning at 8:00 pm. Every event covers an exciting variety of styles including folk, blues, Cajun, Latin and some you haven't thought of. The event is BYOB and people are welcome to bring coolers, deck chairs, children and pets for a relaxed and informal musical evening. The PineKnot Music Co-op accepts donations to support this event. For a specific list of performers, see the PineKnot Music Co-op web site.
