Camp Logan trained 45,000 troops during the Great War. Once deserted, the Hogg family purchased two tracts, selling them to the city at cost and establishing a memorial park to the soldiers that trained there. Miss Ima Hogg is credited with protecting the acreage from encroachment threats over time.

Today the site is home to Houston’s Memorial Park, with more than 30 miles of walking and biking trails, and an 18-hole municipal golf course.
