Mayborn Museum Complex
The state-of-the-art Harry and Anna Jeanes Discovery Center is the centerpiece of the Sue and Frank Mayborn Natural Science and Cultural History Museum Complex. The engaging complex includes the “Waco at the Crossroads of Texas” exhibit where visitors can explore a Central Texas limestone cave, a prairie, and a forest filled with Texas critters. A Texas Lifeways” exhibit includes a buffalo-hide teepee, a single-pin log cabin, a full-scale Waco Indian grass house and a Norwegian stone cottage.The Discovery Center features 17 themed rooms ranging from health to communications to transportation. The 13-acre Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village contains 15 wood frame buildings which give visitors an accurate view of life in Texas in the latter 19th Century, into the early 20th century. The Mayborn Museum Complex hosts great traveling exhibits throughout the year.
